This year the deadline is October 14th, not November 1st, so I am giving you a little reminder/notice of that change in dates. Below is the guidelines for proposals. Have special insight into parenting children adopted from foster care? If you can help parents, professionals, and child advocates gain skills and knowledge, please consider presenting at NACAC's 32nd annual conference. Until Friday, October 14, 2005, NACAC encourages adoptive and foster parents, child welfare professionals, adoptees, birth parents, foster care alumni, therapists, and other child advocates to submit workshop and institute proposals for NACAC's 2006 conference. The 32nd annual event will be held at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, California. Three-hour institutes will take place on Thursday, July 27. Ninety-minute workshops will be scheduled from Thursday morning through Saturday afternoon. Final institute and workshop selections are determined by the local conference committee, the NACAC board of directors, and NACAC staff. We will notify prospective presenters about final session decisions in January 2006. ? Guidelines Each session may have up to three presenters; if multiple presenters submit proposals to discuss similar issues, NACAC may ask them to present as a panel. Presenters who become NACAC members before the conference do not have to pay registration fees, but are expected to donate their time and expenses as a personal contribution to waiting children and the adoption community. Proposed presentations should address topics such as models of post-legal adoption services, adoptive family recruitment and retention, parent group activities, child advocacy, or other adoption-related subjects. When preparing a proposal for either an institute or workshop, follow the format below and provide a detailed outline, a statement suggesting what participants will gain from the presentation, and sample handouts. NOTICE: If you submit a proposal for the NACAC conference based on work or research done by someone else, you must obtain the proper permissions from the original researcher or author. NACAC is not responsible for verifying the originality of submissions, and cannot be held accountable for presenters? copyright infringements or other violations of ownership rights. ?
