Kevin,
I'm please that you've included the Minneapolis Issues list in this exchange; I think more and broader discussion will be fruitful. I would also like to see more list members weigh in on the "criteria development."
I think the process is charging off in the wrong direction on the wrong string of horses. You've got cowboys out on the range determining criteria for culling the herd without first having a good clear notion about where the eventual herd is going to be marketed - you're trying to determine criteria for closing schools without first establishing a very clear picture of what the district should look like. With all due respect, I would rather not have consultants hired by Facilities determining what our school district will be; I want this process led by parents and teachers, facilitated by some professionals who can incorporate pertinent, accurate data from all of the stake holders in our school system.

I received a copy (today August 3rd) of the July 29th correspondence from the PPERRIA to Superintendent Peebles with the attachments regarding the Tuttle/Pratt Minneapolis Southeast Schools. I have been going through the text to identify "criteria" driven or "criteria" identification opportunities that might apply to all schools in MPS. I have not reviewed the budget analysis for questions yet. But have highlighted some information and assumptions built into the analysis. There are several identified resources in your area that could help with the criteria development by using the materials you have already prepared and extracting from it criteria that may be considered applicable to all schools.

Thanks for the emails and lets stay in touch.

  Kevin
